    14/01/2024 - SCAM WARNING

There are a number of scams going the rounds in our area

     - Text messages suggesting they are from a family member who has lost their phone. They encourage you to contact them using a new number, but this is a false number.

-Fake email saying they are from the bank/HMRC saying you have a tax refund and wanting you to click a link to validate the refund.

-Fake emails/texts purporting to be from Amazon saying you have a gift card pending and asking you to click a link/phone a number to activate the card.

-Cold Callers who are in fact Rogue Traders offering to do cheap repairs to your roof/path etc. Never deal with door step callers or invite them into your home.

    -These are all scams.

Report suspicious emails you have received but not acted upon, by forwarding the original message to report@phishing.gov.uk

If you, or anyone you know, have been affected by this fraud or any other scam, report it to Action Fraud by calling 0300 123 2040 or visit: www.actionfraud.police.uk
